Dresden Challenge

November Challenge with Island Batik was to create a quilt using Dresden as our inspiration.

I got to use this beautiful group, Island Zest from Island Batik.

I picked my favorites from the line to highlight in my quilt.

Playing with fabric is so fun!

I design my quilts with Electric Quilt.

I kept playing with designs until I came up with this design:

The quilt finished at about 60" square. This is a perfect lap size.

I pieced the quarter Dresden plates.

I will then applique them to the background squares.

First: test the applique stitching.

Stitching the Dresden's down, on a beautiful fall day. I do my decorative stitching on my Janome M7 machine.

The top went together quickly.

I planned my quilting design Loopy Lace and loaded the quilt on to my Handi Quilter Forte/Pro-Stitcher. I used Hobbs Silk batting in this quilt.

I love the lacey look of the design.

I added a dark green binding to finish it off.

Disclosure: The products featured here were provided to me free of charge by Island Batik, Schmetz Needles and Hobbs Batting
